Forging Strategic Partnership on Economic Security and Indo-Pacific Policy

Forging Strategic Partnership on Economic Security and Indo-Pacific Policy

SIGNAL Group, Israel’s premier non-governmental and non-partisan think tank specializing in China and Indo-Pacific strategy, is pleased to announce the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) at The University of Tokyo.

Through this landmark agreement, SIGNAL Group will join forces with RCAST’s Economic Security Intelligence Lab (ESIL) to bridge the strategic interests of Israel and Japan. As one of the few policy institutions in Israel dedicated to analyzing the complexities of the Indo-Pacific, SIGNAL Group brings a unique Middle Eastern perspective to Japan’s leading academic and technological research hub.

This collaboration is designed to leverage the combined expertise of both organizations to navigate the rapidly evolving global geopolitical landscape.

What Actually Happened in Beijing?

May 18th – Carice joined Dan Senor on the Call me Back podcast to unpack what really happened in Beijing, why China wants Iran weak but intact, how Israel’s military successes have changed Beijing’s view of Jerusalem, and what Israel should do differently as China watches the war from the other side of the world.

As Chinese President Xi Jinping visits Cairo to mark 70 years of diplomatic ties between China and Egypt, SIGNAL Group’s Tommy Steiner joins David Matlin on i24 to unpack what the visit signals about China’s broader ambitions in the Middle East.

With increasing pressure from the West, can Israel resist a China charm offensive?

Chinese Ambassador to Israel Xiao Junzheng has been on a charm offensive since arriving to his new post in December. In contrast with his predecessors, who shied away from the Israeli media, Xiao has been blanketing the airwaves and acting in ways unprecedented for Beijing: condemning Hamas and calling to free the hostages.

Route through Israel proposed as rival to China’s Belt and Road

A proposed trade route connecting India and Europe, via the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Israel, was the topic of a conference held in Budapest this month.

The May 12-13 conference, “Realizing the Vision of IMEC: Building Bridges of Connectivity,” was sponsored by the Danube Institute, a Budapest-based conservative group; and the Sino-Israel Global Network and Academic Leadership (SIGNAL Group), an Israeli policy think tank.
